INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Jennifer Pippin won the Republican primary for the open Indian River County Commission District 2 seat Tuesday, while incumbent Jacqueline “Jackie” Rosario held off a challenge to win a third term on the School Board.
Unofficial results from the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections showed Pippin capturing 41.57% of the vote in the three-way Republican primary. Rosario received 51.85% against challenger Tom Lange in the nonpartisan School Board District 2 race.
County Commission District 2
Pippin, a Sebastian resident and parental rights advocate, finished with 8,706 votes (41.57%). Bob McPartlan, the Sebastian vice mayor, placed second with 7,222 votes (34.48%). Brooks Robinson received 5,015 votes (23.95%).
- Pippin received 3,846 votes on Election Day, 2,413 early votes and 2,447 vote-by-mail ballots.
- McPartlan received 2,898 Election Day votes, 1,964 early votes and 2,360 vote-by-mail ballots.
- Robinson received 2,047 Election Day votes, 1,277 early votes and 1,691 vote-by-mail ballots.
Pippin advances to the Nov. 3 general election against Democrat Robert “Robbie” Hardingham, a Vero Beach truck driver and Army veteran who faced no primary opposition.
The District 2 seat is open because longtime Commissioner Joe Flescher is not seeking reelection after two decades on the board. The district covers much of northern Indian River County, including Sebastian. County commissioners serve four-year terms.
School Board District 2
Rosario, first elected in 2018, defeated Lange with 17,051 votes (51.85%) to Lange’s 15,836 votes (48.15%).
- Rosario received 6,543 votes on Election Day, 4,217 early votes and 6,291 vote-by-mail ballots.
- Lange received 5,203 Election Day votes, 3,397 early votes and 7,236 vote-by-mail ballots.
The nonpartisan race was decided in the primary. School Board members serve four-year terms. Voters countywide cast ballots in the contest.
Results remain unofficial until the Supervisor of Elections completes the canvass.
