SEBASTIAN – The Chubby Mullet has one of the best clam chowders near Sebastian. This hidden gem is actually in Micco at the Sebastian Inlet Marina.
When you walk in, you are greeted with an authentic seafood atmosphere and a large sports bar. The view in this place stands out as you overlook the Indian River Lagoon.
We visited the Chubby Mullet three times during a 1-month span because we needed a break from the other places. Sometimes you just have to try something new, and I’m glad we did.
I’m a big clam chowder fanatic, and I was very pleased with the serving. It was rich and the clams were quality. The soup came with my sandwich, which was also good.
Their lunch specials are a good deal and service is fast. The food was consistent during each visit.
The only food item that I did not enjoy was their BBQ sandwich. It seemed off, but other customers liked it.
Seafood is their specialty, and I can’t complain about that. I love their clam strips. They were lightly battered to perfection and taste. Others in our group enjoyed the cracked conch and buff calamari.
The bar serves beer & wine with reasonable prices. They do offer craft beer. There are usually two specials on the board. Highly recommended!
If traveling from Sebastian, head north on U.S. Highway 1 over the bridge into Micco and Chubby Mullet is located on the right at the large marina. From the north, head down U.S. Highway 1 to Micco and you’ll see the marina on your left.
