VERO BEACH – The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival, hailed as “The New Summer Sundance” by the Huffington Post, today proudly announced that Hollywood icon George Takei will be named the recipient of the VBWFF 2018 Life World Living Legend Award.
The 2018 VBWFF will take place June 7-10 in spectacular Vero Beach, Florida.
The award will be presented to Takei on June 8th at 6:30 PM in the beautiful Riverside Theatre. There, Takei will be on stage and interviewed by Festival Chair and acclaimed Film Critic Jeffrey Lyons, illuminating all facets of Takei’s remarkable career.
Hosting the 2018 celebration of wine and picture will be legendary film critic Jeffrey Lyons. Lyons, the five-time Emmy Award winner, is celebrated for reviewing 15,000 movies, interviewing over 500 actors, writing or co-authoring seven books, and co-hosting national movie review shows on PBS, MSNBC and the NBC stations.
Lyons emphatically explains, “It’s a wonderful time of year in Florida! Mixing film with fine wine is an incredible, unique combination that I’m excited to be a part of.”

Best known for his role as Sulu in the fan-crazed “Star Trek” television series and his equal rights activist, Takei’s IMDB boast an astounding and lengthy 215 acting credits dating back to 1955.
Takei follows the great Burt Reynolds and legendary Gloria Estefan as 2017 and 2016 Life Worth Living Awards recipients, respectively.
Following the live interview and rounding out an amazing night, the VBWFF will announce the festival’s jury winning films and debut for Vero Beach the hit George Takei biopic, “To Be Takei.”
