VERO BEACH – Deputies say a 21-year-old woman was arrested after attacking her boyfriend when he refused to have sex with her, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

While responding to a 911 call early Monday, deputies were told about an intoxicated woman who was “naked and belligerent,” according to the affidavit.

Upon arrival at the home in Vero Beach, they met with 21-year-old Samantha Jewel Hernandez, who told deputies that she was too intoxicated to advise what happened with her boyfriend.

Deputies then spoke with Hernandez’s boyfriend who said his girlfriend “wanted to engage him in sexual intercourse,” but he declined.

“Hernandez was angry at the fact that [the victim] did not want to have sex and began attacking him, striking him in the face and ripping his shirt,” according to the deputy.

To avoid further confrontation, the boyfriend left the residence to “cool off” and to call law enforcement, reports show.

“On scene, I observed a red scratch to the right side of [the victim’s] face and another scratch at the base of his neck. [The victim’s] shirt was also ripped,” the deputy said.

Hernandez, who works as a cashier in Vero Beach, became belligerent and yelled “I didn’t do anything,” according to the affidavit.

Deputies say the couple has been together for two years.

Hernandez was arrested for Battery Domestic Violence. However, while being placed into the deputy’s cruiser, she began striking her head against the partition.

“Hernandez closed her eyes and pretended to be unconscious,” the deputy said.

Once the deputy conducted a welfare check, Hernandez opened her eyes and “maliciously spit” at him while yelling profanities. She was also charged with Felony Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Hernandez was released Monday afternoon after posting $6,000 bond.
