SEBASTIAN — Two Sebastian police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after an officer-involved shooting Thursday night in the 500 block of Joy Haven Drive.
The shooting happened about 9:34 p.m. Sept. 17, according to a statement from the Sebastian Police Department. Officers were still on the scene Friday morning.
The department turned the investigation over to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which it said is standard practice after an officer-involved shooting. FDLE will handle the case going forward.
Both officers involved were placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation.
Police released no other details Friday, including what led to the shooting or whether anyone was hurt. The department said more information will be released as it becomes available and can be appropriately disclosed.
The investigation remains active.
