SEBASTIAN — Run for Responders 5K is expanding to Sebastian for the first time, giving residents a chance to support first responders while running or walking a course lined by the very people it honors.
The event will be Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 7:30 a.m. at the City of Sebastian City Hall Complex, 1225 Main St. After eight years in Cocoa Beach, organizers are bringing the race to Indian River County thanks to strong community interest.
Proceeds benefit Survive First, a nonprofit that assists first responders and their families dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and substance abuse. First responders and law enforcement from Sebastian and surrounding agencies will line the route and light it up, creating what organizers describe as an atmosphere of unity and appreciation.
Registration is open for several categories:
- Standard 5K costs $35
- Youth division (15 and under) is $25, with both prices rising after Aug. 23.
- A separate $35 entry is available for police and fire rescue personnel who show identification.
- A virtual 5K option is also offered for $45 for those who cannot attend in person.
Registration and additional details are available here.
The race is open to runners and walkers of all abilities. Organizers encourage residents to turn out both as participants and spectators to show support for local emergency personnel.
