SEBASTIAN — Runners, walkers, and families can spend the evening of October 24th on the Sebastian Rail Trail for the Sebastian Scream 5K and Haunted Rail Trail, a fundraiser for first responder mental health.
The “Stranger Things” themed event will be held at the North County Aquatic Center, 9450 County Road 512. The night will include a chip-timed 5K, a trunk-or-treat, and a separate haunted trail walk. All proceeds will support mental health resources including counseling and peer support for police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics.
Race Registration & Bib Pickup
Runners can pick up their bibs at the aquatic center from 4 to 5:15 p.m., and the 5K begins at 5:30 p.m. The course follows the flat rail trail, and water will be available at the 1-mile and 2-mile marks. Awards follow at 6:30 p.m. for the top three in each age group, and a separate costume contest will hand out prizes. Entry is $35 plus a $3.10 fee. Register here through race day.
Trunk-or-treat (Free)
Kids can trick-or-treat at decorated trunks in the parking lot from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The children’s costume contest is at 7 p.m. Parents need to stay with their kids and bring a bag for candy. Food trucks will be on site. Unlike the haunted walk later in the evening, this part of the night is family-friendly.
Haunted Rail Trail
The haunted rail trail opens at 7 p.m. The last tour leaves at 9:45 p.m. Actors, fog, strobe lights, and jump scares are part of the walk. It is not recommended for children under 12. Comfortable shoes are advised. Props and weapons are not allowed on the trail. Tickets are $16.15, including a $1.15 fee, and can be purchased here. No refunds will be issued if weather forces a cancellation.
