The Executive Roundtable of Indian River County will host the third annual Rail Trail 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, January 16th at 8:00 a.m., at the Fellsmere Trailhead Preserve in Fellsmere, Florida. This event is unique in that the route takes participants across the I-95 Central Railroad Corridor Greenway Pedestrian Overpass, the 12-foot-wide bridge that connects the North County Regional Park and the Fellsmere Trailhead Preserve.

Due to the generous sponsorships, donations, and ticket sales for the 2020 Rail Trail 5K Run/Walk, The Executive Roundtable was able to award grants totaling over $6,000 to the following nonprofit charitable organizations serving children and families in Indian River County:

  • $2,000 to the Treasure Coast Food Bank to support the “Mobile Pantry Program.”
  • $1,890 to The Gifford Youth Orchestra for one annual tuition scholarship.
  • $1622 to the Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast to support their “Teaching Social Skills Using Equine Assisted Activities program.”
  • $500 to the Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative to support their “Family Engagement Initiative.”

The Rail Trail 5K Run/Walk helps support the mission of the Executive Roundtable of IRC-to identify solutions that will protect and enhance the lives of Indian River County residents and their families, with an emphasis on children. The Executive Roundtable is comprised of executive level community leaders from the school system, law enforcement, government, and social service organizations. Their meetings are typically held the last Thursday morning of each month at the United Way of Vero Beach.

Since its inception in 2014, the Executive Roundtable has focused its efforts on bringing Kids at Hope to Indian River County. Kids at Hope is a national concept that inspires, empowers, and transforms schools, youth serving organizations, and entire communities to create an environment where all children experience success, NO EXCEPTIONS!

The Executive Roundtable is also the sole sponsor of the Superintendent’s Art Gallery, an annual event hosted by the Indian River County School District, that celebrates and encourages the fine arts programs in the School District of Indian River County.

The 2021 Rail Trail 5K Run/Walk is expected to draw runners from all over Florida. The race entry fee is $25.00 in advance and $30.00 on race day, and includes a performance T-shirt for the first 100 runners registered. Children 9 and under are free (no T-shirt).

Awards will go to the male and female winner in each age category with an additional prize package awarded to the overall male and female winners.

Register and pay for 2021 Rail Trail 5K Run/Walk online.

For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Executive Director, Aimee Hill, at aimeehill@execroundtableirc.org.
