SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian Police Department’s Community Oriented Policing Endeavor (COPE) Unit will hold its Back-to-School Fun Day on Friday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Riverview Park in Sebastian.
The event will offer free school supplies while supplies last, free on-site physicals, games, food, and local vendors. The annual gathering gives families a chance to prepare for the school year and connect with officers in a relaxed setting.
School Supply Drive
To support the event, the department will host a School Supply Drive on July 17 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walmart located at 2001 U.S. Highway 1. Residents can drop off new backpacks, notebooks, and other school supplies.
The Mission of the COPE Unit is to:
- Create partnerships between the community and the Sebastian Police Department.
- Develop and employ proactive crime prevention strategies.
- Promote the department’s resources to the community.
The COPE Unit serves as the department’s main community policing arm. It’s based on the idea that officers and residents working together can prevent crime and address neighborhood issues early. The Sebastian Police Department is committed to the philosophy of community-oriented policing and to improving the quality of life for all citizens of the City of Sebastian.
