SEBASTIAN – Fewer than 7,000 FPL customers remained without power late Friday afternoon in Indian River County, a spokesperson told Sebastian Daily.

While many customers are reporting outages, mostly in Sebastian and Fellsmere, FPL still expects to have power restored by late Sunday.

Some customers are venting frustrations and the fear that FPL left them in the dark.

“Right off Easy Street, down Ash street, everyone on this grid still has no power. Our neighbor has called repeatedly. I think we have been forgotten, around Sebastian you see no power trucks. Did they leave without fixing our lines?” Annette Vargas told Sebastian Daily.

Some people who had power on Thursday lost again it Friday night, but FPL says they are working to have it restored.

Flooding has been an issue in various parts of Fellsmere, which has been problematic for FPL.

However, the utility company still insists that all power in Sebastian, Fellsmere, and Vero Beach will be restored by late Sunday.
