Carole Jean Jordan, Tax Collector, Indian River County has temporarily suspended most services that require a physical appearance in the four Tax Collector office locations.

Services have been evaluated individually based on the need for a resident to appear in the office physically and the amount of contact required between Tax Collector office staff and residents.

Jordan said, “as of Thursday, March 19th, we will be suspending service through the end of March for TWIC card applications, fingerprinting for State of Florida and fingerprinting for CDL/Hazmat designations. Additionally, road tests for driver licenses will not be available and TSA pre-check appointments will be limited.”

She continued, “due to the growing number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Florida, we are doing our part to keep our staff and residents safe.

Normal cleaning has been increased to ensure a cleaner environment; however, we ask that people who do not need to physically appear at our office during the month of March to please wait until we resume full servicing.

To help people nearing deadlines, the State of Florida has automatically granted a 30-day extension to all Florida class E driver license, commercial driver license and Identification cards expiring between March 16th – April 15th, 2020.

Additionally, their ExpressLane drive-thru service remains available for vehicle registration renewals.”

“We appreciate the community’s understanding and patience as we balance exceptional customer service with prioritizing the safety of our residents. Our online portal remains open 24/7 to allow for electronic transactions and, as always, e-check payments are fee-free,” Jordan stated.

If you have additional questions, please call their office at 772-226-1338 to speak with their staff.
