FORT PIERCE — A proposed Buc-ee’s travel center near Interstate 95 and Indrio Road in St. Lucie County could create hundreds of jobs, with general manager pay reaching as high as $275,000 a year, according to the company’s careers information.
As Sebastian Daily previously reported, the store is expected to rank among the largest in the Buc-ee’s chain. The 76,245-square-foot store would sit just north of Fort Pierce and become the southernmost Buc-ee’s in Florida. Plans call for 120 fuel pumps, 18 electric vehicle charging stations and more than 700 parking spaces, making it one of the chain’s larger locations.
Buc-ee’s lists associate positions at $20 to $25 an hour. Team leads are shown at $23 to $28 an hour and department managers around $33 an hour. Assistant general managers start at $125,000 or more, while general managers are advertised from $200,000 to $275,000-plus.
The company also promotes weekly pay, paid time off, medical, dental and vision insurance, and a 401(k) match of up to 6 percent. Hourly workers earn double time on major holidays.
Those pay figures come from Buc-ee’s current companywide postings. No jobs have been listed specifically for the St. Lucie County site yet. Management openings for new stores typically appear about eight months before opening. Front-line positions usually post roughly 90 days out.
The project remains in the site plan review process with St. Lucie County. Construction has not begun. Earlier estimates pointed to a 2027 opening, but local reports now suggest 2028 is more realistic.
Buc-ee’s has not released a firm timeline for hiring or groundbreaking. Residents and job seekers will likely have to wait for the company to clear remaining county approvals before applications open.
