Vero Beach, FL – The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal plane crash that occurred around 12:40 p.m. today in the area of 98th Avenue and State Road 60.
A single-seat glider-style aircraft crashed into the median of State Road 60, resulting in the tragic death of the pilot. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Despite the incident, both eastbound and westbound lanes of State Road 60 remain open to traffic.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified and will be conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
