The Sebastian Train Depot is officially open to the public! There was much anticipation about what the original train depot of Sebastian would become, well now you can go and see for yourself.
Being a Sebastian native, I have been anxiously waiting to find out what would become of the historic Sebastian Train Depot. Now that I have seen the finished product, I couldn’t be happier.
When owner William Payne asked us to come and check out his new business endeavor, I was like a kid in a candy store! I was in aww… before I even went inside. I love all of the outdoor seating options: picnic tables, rocking chairs, and high-top chairs. They even have a convenient walk-up order window for anyone who would like to remain outdoors.
When we entered the Sebastian Train Depot, I felt so happy. It was so exciting that Payne chose such a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for the historic train depot.
“I just wanted to be apart of such an amazing historically significant event for our beautiful community. Henry Flagler was a badass, and this depot right here in Sebastian, Florida, was crucial to the development of the east coast of Florida. Some even say the City of Sebastian was built around the depot. It’s just humbling to be apart of preserving that history for our residents and visitors coming to Sebastian,” Payne told Sebastian Daily.

History of Florida East Coast Railway
The original Train Depot opened December 11, 1893, connecting Sebastian to the “Main Line” that would run from Jacksonville to Miami. The Train Depot was located at the railroad tracks on Main Street in Sebastian.
Payne made sure to preserve the history of the Sebastian Train Depot at the new restaurant. So, make sure you read up on the history of the depot while grabbing a couple of hotdogs or my favorite, the “Train Wreck.”
