SEBASTIAN – Pareidolia Brewing Company’s 4th Annual Running Of The Wieners raises $1,000 for HALO Rescue No-Kill Shelter in Sebastian.
The money raised is nearly double from last year’s race, according to Pete and Lynn Anderson of Pareidolia.
There was a total of 37 dogs that ran in the race, including the Open Class.
The winner of the Dachshund race goes to Maximillian, owned by Lisa Hamlin. The winner of the Open Class was Maddie The Great Dane in a hotdog outfit owned by Rick Luke.
Pareidolia Brewing Co., located at 712 Cleveland Street, hosted the fundraiser in their parking lot.
The annual Running Of The Wieners usually takes place during the first week of October in Sebastian at Pareidolia.
Jacque Petrone founded HALO Rescue No-Kill Shelter in 2005. This non-profit organization saves over 2000 animals each year.
In 2016, 1,400 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens still lost their lives in Indian River County. However, HALO is determined to put an end to this through local help.
