SEBASTIAN INLET — Jackson Tenney and Nicole Phillips won their divisions at the 2026 Shore LB Throwdown, which concluded this weekend at Sebastian Inlet with 120 entries from 96 competitors.
Tenney, from Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., posted the event’s highest single-heat score of 23.17 points in the Pro Men final to beat Mason Broussard of Gulf Shores, Ala. Florida riders ET Beaugrand of Englewood and Sterling Myers of Indian Rocks Beach finished third and fourth, respectively. The men’s field had 12 competitors.
The Pro Women division featured two riders, with Phillips of Apollo Beach, Fla., taking first ahead of Sydney Pizza of Dewey Beach, Del.
Competitors faced windy conditions and 1- to 3-foot waves at one of Florida’s signature skimboarding spots.
“I don’t think there’s another single beach I have traveled to skim and surf more than Sebastian. It’s always been a special place and a special wave for me,” Tenney said. “My childhood self would be very stoked. I’ve always wanted to win any contest three times. I couldn’t have picked a better place.”
Phillips credited focused training for her victory.
“I’m so happy to take home the win this week in Sebastian because it really shows that my hard work is paying off,” she said. “I’ve been focusing a lot on my physical health lately and keeping my mind clear — eye on the prize. It feels good to see all the hours I’ve put into training actually show up. I’m excited to see what the rest of the year has in store.”
The field drew riders from Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, plus two from Mexico. Notable entrants included Elian Juarez of Melaque, Mexico; Gerardo Valencia of Barra de Navidad, Mexico, the 2025 Skim USA champion; and Chester Burnett of Dewey Beach, Del.
In the Semi-Professional division, Eric Sheckells’ first-place finish led him to commit to turning pro.
“I’ve been skimboarding since I was seven years old, and I’ve always looked up to the pros and wanted to be like them,” Sheckells said. “I’ve worked really hard, progressed a lot, and figured things out to make sure I can perform and feel comfortable at a level where I belong in the pro division.”
The event was presented by Shore LB in partnership with Skim USA, blending an East Coast grassroots tradition with national efforts to grow the sport.
