This is an update on coronavirus cases in Indian River County and Brevard County, Florida.

Starting today, Phase 1 begins in Sebastian, Florida. Phase 2 will start in a couple of weeks.

Local:

  • Sebastian: 9 cases
  • Fellsmere: 1 case
  • Palm Bay: 46 cases
  • Malabar: 1 case
  • Grant-Valkaria: 1 case
  • Barefoot Bay: 1 case
  • Micco: 0 cases
  • Vero Beach: 77 cases

Indian River County has a population of 154,000. The patients are 49 men and 38 women between the ages of 8 to 94.

Indian River County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 98 (10 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 8
  • Tested Negative: 1,878
  • Hospitalizations: 23
  • Awaiting Results: 50

Brevard County has a population of 590,000. The patients are 145 men and 156 women between the ages of 1 to 94.

Brevard County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 310 (9 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 8
  • Tested Negative: 9,263
  • Hospitalizations: 48
  • Awaiting Results: 1

Florida

  • Cases: 36,897 (928 non-Florida residents)
  • Deaths: 1,399
  • Tested Negative: 407,373
  • Hospitalizations: 6,119

So far, the new cases in Florida peaked on April 2nd at 1,292 and April 3rd with 1,314 cases.

Cleveland Clinic, Indian River Hospital, is providing drive-through testing by appointments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. To make an appointment, call the hospital at 772-226-4846.

For now, if you are 65 or older, or have an illness or chronic condition, please stay home.
