Coronavirus new cases drop slightly over the weekend in Florida

This is an update on coronavirus cases in Indian River County and Brevard County. The number of new cases in Florida dropped over the weekend.

Yesterday, Governor Andrew Cuomo says he wants to reopen NY as soon as possible while meeting with other states. Florida is about 10 days behind New York.

Local:

  • Sebastian: 7 cases
  • Fellsmere: 1 case
  • Malabar: 1 case
  • Grant-Valkaria: 1 case
  • Barefoot Bay: 1 case
  • Micco: 0 cases
  • Vero Beach: 50 cases

Indian River County has a population of 154,000. The patients are 59% men and 41% women between the ages of 8 to 94.

Indian River County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 75 (8 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 1
  • Tested Negative: 1,015
  • Hospitalizations: 20

Brevard County has a population of 590,000. The patients are 50% men and 50% women between the ages of 1 to 94.

Brevard County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 140 (6 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 5
  • Tested Negative: 2,628
  • Hospitalizations: 35

The total number of cases, deaths, and people who have tested negative in Florida.

Florida

  • Cases: 20,601 (566 non-Florida residents)
  • Deaths: 470
  • Tested Negative: 175,606
  • Hospitalizations: 2,694

  • 4/5 – 774 cases
  • 4/6 – 1,196 cases

So far, the new cases in Florida peaked on April 2nd and April 3rd. The curve may be flattening in Florida.

Cleveland Clinic, Indian River Hospital, is providing drive-through testing by appointments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. To make an appointment, call the hospital at 772-226-4846.

For now, if you are 65 or older, or have an illness or chronic condition, please stay home.
