A Vero Beach woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly aiming a BB gun at two motorcyclists and admitting to holding the weapon to “scare them off,” according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Victoria Lund, of the 600 block of 20th Street Southwest, was arrested on Wednesday following an incident reported near the intersection of 20th Place and 6th Avenue Southwest.
Two individuals told deputies they were riding their dirt bikes when they passed Lund’s residence. They claim Lund was standing in her front yard holding what appeared to be a gun pointed directly at them. The two motorcyclists said they heard “bangs,” similar to the sound of rocks hitting a garage door. One of the riders stated they felt something pass by their legs, though no injuries were reported, and it remains unclear if their bikes sustained any damage.
The victims, who recorded a portion of the incident on their cell phone, told deputies they were scared and confused by Lund’s actions. The video, which deputies reviewed, reportedly shows a woman matching Lund’s description holding an object with both hands in the yard near the roadway.
Deputies made contact with Lund at her residence. She told them she had been outside with her children when she saw the two motorcyclists driving “recklessly” and “flipping her off” multiple times. Lund admitted to grabbing a BB gun when the motorcyclists returned, acknowledging that she “held it at them” in an attempt to frighten them. However, Lund denied pointing the gun directly at the riders and claimed she did not shoot at them.
Deputies recovered the BB gun, which was loaded with pellets. The weapon’s description matched the account given by the victims.
As a result of the incident, Lund was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and two counts of child abuse. The actual ages of the victims were not disclosed by the sheriff’s office.
Lund was transported to the Indian River County Jail, where her bond was set at $20,000.
