A Vero Beach woman was charged with DUI after deputies observed her driving on the wrong side of the road with her vehicle hazards flashing in Sebastian, Florida.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office says that a deputy observed the woman, later identified as 25-year-old Christina Rose Genovese, near the Sebastian Walmart as she drove southbound in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 1.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop.
“I asked the white female driver why she was driving southbound in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 1. She spoke about the traffic light at CR-512 but was not very coherent,” the deputy said.
According to the affidavit, Genovese was asked the same question multiple times, but she did not provide a coherent answer that made any sense.
“I had to ask her several times to provide a driver’s license. She continually looked through a stack of papers for it. She also looked for a wallet in the rear floorboard of the vehicle,” the deputy said.
When the deputy asked Genovese where she was coming from, she said a bar in Vero Beach. She stated that “drinks were purchased for her there” and did not believe she was in the Sebastian area.
Genovese did not have a valid driver’s license. She was transported to the Indian River County Jail, where she was processed.
