Two poodles named Winnie the Poodle and Lucy Golden Doodle woke up their family at 6:00 a.m. after discovering a dog swimming helplessly in the Layport Drive Canal in Sebastian.

Little did they know the dog, named Sophie, was reported missing on Christmas Day. The owners went on social media to report her missing and said they were worried sick and asked everyone to look for “the sweetest dog ever.”

Then a Christmas miracle happened!

“My dogs awakened us at 6 a.m. to find them barking at a dog swimming in the canal on Layport Drive. I was able to rescue and pull her out of the water,” Michele Longo told Sebastian Daily.

Longo said she called the non-emergency police number, and they located the owners to reunite them with Sophie.

Welcome home Sophie!
