The clash between the Clearwater Threshers and the Palm Beach Cardinals promises an exciting evening of baseball and community spirit.
This special event, a partnership between the United Way of Indian River County, Major League Baseball, and the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, honors Robinson’s monumental impact on sports and society. It also serves as a crucial fundraiser for vital programs and services within Indian River County.
“Jackie Robinson reminds us of the importance of unity, progress, and community. United is the Way, and we are honored to partner with Major League Baseball and the Jackie Robinson Training Complex to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County.
Holman Stadium holds a unique place in baseball history, having served as an integrated Spring Training facility. Jackie Robinson himself played in the first official Spring Training game at the stadium on March 31, 1948.
According to Rachelle Madrigal, Vice President of the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, the event showcases how sports bring people together and create a sense of shared goals. She also said Holman Stadium provides a fitting venue for the celebration, allowing them to both recognize Jackie Robinson’s lasting influence on the sport and the broader community, and to raise funds for a worthy cause.
The event relies heavily on volunteers, and opportunities are available for parking attendants, gate attendants, raffle sales, crowd management, and general support. Interested volunteers can visit UnitedWayIRC.org or contact Amanda Morgan, Community Impact Coordinator, at (772) 567-8900, ext. 120.
Local businesses can also get involved through sponsorship opportunities. United Way expressed gratitude to Presenting Sponsors Morgan Petersen Wealth Management Merrill Lynch and Shambo, Schwibner, Schwartz Wealth Management Group Merrill Lynch, as well as Home Run Sponsor Route 60 Hyundai, and Triple Sponsor AYS Employee Leasing. For sponsorship inquiries, contact Meredith Egan at (772) 567-8900, ext. 125.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of concessions and food trucks throughout the evening. This event is expected to be a highlight for Treasure Coast baseball fans and supporters of the United Way. All proceeds will directly benefit United Way’s efforts to improve lives in Indian River County.
