The Coalition of Attainable Homes (CAH) has achieved a significant milestone by receiving gold certification as a Community Land Trust (CLT) from the Florida Housing Coalition.
This recognition underscores CAH’s commitment to providing long-term, affordable housing solutions for low-income and working families in Indian River County.
“We are incredibly proud to reach this milestone,” said Julianne Price, CAH Board President. “Becoming a certified CLT enhances our capacity to provide stable and affordable housing options for our community.”
As a Community Land Trust (CLT), CAH will serve as a dedicated land steward, guaranteeing long-term affordability for future generations. The innovative CLT approach decouples land ownership from homeownership, with CAH maintaining ownership of the land and offering homes for sale or rent at affordable rates.
This unique model enables homeowners to accumulate home equity while ensuring that housing expenses remain manageable for both owners and renters.
“The need for affordable housing in Indian River County is critical,” said Valerie Kines, Executive Director of CAH. “This certification allows us to leverage partnerships with developers, lenders, and government agencies to create a sustainable model for income-determined housing.”
The Coalition of Attainable Homes mission is to ensure the availability of high quality affordable housing to income eligible residents and provide hope and encouragement to families who demonstrate a need and desire to maintain their own home.
