Vice-Mayor Chris Nunn has requested a special City Council meeting regarding three corner lots at CR-512 and Roseland Road in Sebastian, Florida.

City officials scheduled the meeting for Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 5 p.m. inside the City Council chambers.

“I know many have expressed their concerns with the lot that is being cleared on the Northwest corner of Roseland Rd and CR512 (Sebastian Blvd), where there are 3 lots owned by D.R. Horton,” said Nunn. “These properties were platted a long time ago, but things have changed drastically in that intersection.”

Nunn told Sebastian Daily that he’s concerned for public safety since the homes could be too close to the turning lane on Roseland Road. In his opinion, the driveways will be too close to the road, creating a problem.

“The concern is public safety, the serious safety issues with having three houses with driveways in a very busy turning lane in a very busy intersection,” Nunn added.

The property owners recently cleared the lots, which sparked some complaints on social media by area residents. Many residents feel the new homes will be too close to the intersection and roadway, potentially creating a safety issue.

The other issue is when the new potential homeowners make a left turn into their driveway, and they will have to cross Roseland Road and the turning lane.

“Please come to the meeting and be part of the discussion,” Nunn said.
