Taco Bell launched a spicy new twist on a fan favorite Thursday with the Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito, featuring a novel Flamin’ Hot Rice and a grilled cheese exterior aimed at blending heat, cheese and crunch.
The burrito builds on the chain’s Beefy Crunch Burrito by introducing Flamin’ Hot Rice, made with Fritos Flamin’ Hot chips and a seasoning mix of red peppers, cheddar cheese powder, garlic, paprika and lime. It includes seasoned beef, nacho cheese sauce, creamy chipotle sauce, more Fritos Flamin’ Hot chips, reduced-fat sour cream and a three-cheese blend, all wrapped in a tortilla with melted cheese grilled on the outside.
Available at participating locations nationwide starting Oct. 16, the item joins Taco Bell’s Luxe Cravings lineup. It draws from past Flamin’ Hot collaborations, such as Doritos Flamin’ Hot Locos Tacos, to appeal to fans of bold flavors.
“We know how much love there is for the signature spice of Flamin’ Hot, and our fans are always looking for cheesier, crunchier menu items from us,” said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s global chief food innovation officer. “The Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito brings all these elements together — taking the heat, the crispy Fritos crunch, and cheesy goodness on the inside and out of our classic burrito.”
Customers can order the burrito a la carte for $5.49 or as part of the $9 Discovery Luxe Cravings Box, which includes other menu favorites. Supplies are limited.
Taco Bell has operated for more than 62 years, offering Mexican-inspired food. It was recently named one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies, one of Time’s Most Influential Companies and Nation’s Restaurant News’ Brand Icon.
