A fence erected around the Brevard County Fire Rescue Station near Barefoot Bay has sparked curiosity among some residents in Micco.
However, the county has confirmed that the barrier is in place to facilitate ongoing upgrades at the station.
Brevard County Fire Rescue Station 86, located at 301 Barefoot Bay Boulevard, is undergoing a major renovation. The upgrades aim to modernize the station’s facilities, ensure optimal working conditions for firefighters and paramedics, and better serve the local community.
The fire station, a one-story building with a total area of 8,466 square feet, will be enhanced with a new kitchen, dining area, bunk room, restrooms, showers, and various equipment and utility support spaces, according to W+J Construction.
Despite the ongoing construction, the station remains fully operational. Temporary housing arrangements are in place to accommodate the staff during this period of improvement.
While a specific date for completing these upgrades has not been publicly announced, we will provide updates when more information becomes available.
