Cooler temperatures across Indian River County and South Brevard this morning, but the weekend will be a bit warmer. There are some hazardous conditions if you plan to be in a boat or surf at the Sebastian Inlet.

The winds in Sebastian are the biggest problem right now and will continue through Tuesday.

Surfers

Surfers at the Sebastian Inlet should note the Rip Current impact, which will continue on Saturday and Sunday. Seas will remain 4 to 6 feet.

“Weaker swimmers may not want to enter the water above their knees as the swells will be capable of knocking swimmers off their feet and make them more susceptible to becoming caught in a rip current. The rip current threat will be highest between 11:30 AM and 5:30 PM due to tidal effects. If you decide to enter the chilly surf today, remember to swim only within sight of a lifeguard and never swim alone,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said in a statement.

Boaters

North winds are near 20 knots and will decrease to 15 to 20 knots as they become northeast by late Friday afternoon. Seas will be 4 to 6 feet. There is a Small Craft Advisory for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Boaters in Brevard County and Indian River County should exercise caution.

Weekend Temperatures

Friday’s high will only be 66 degrees, with a low of 53. Saturday will warm up to 70 degrees, 58 for the low.

Sunday will be the warmest day, with a high 77 degrees, overnight low near 59, a good day for boating and fishing. There’s a 30 percent chance of rain for Sunday night.

Monday will have a high of 70 degrees, overnight low of 41. Cooler temperatures are moving into our area later that night.

There will be windy conditions with gusts as high as 25 mph for Friday through Tuesday.

Cold Front

A cold front is moving into Sebastian starting Monday night and into Tuesday morning. The high will only be 61 degrees on Tuesday, with a low of 41. The cold front should clear out by Thursday.

We’ll have another forecast on Sunday in case the weather changes.

Have a great weekend Sebastian!
