Tropical Storm Watch

Two days into the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season, we already have tropical storm watches posted for Sebastian, Florida.

During the past four days, we have closely monitored a disturbance that is beginning to form from the remnants of Hurricane Agatha. There’s no threat of an actual hurricane for our area at this time.

The tracking of this potential tropical storm has been steady to the northeast as it moves closer to Florida. The disturbance could very well have an impact on this year’s Blue Open Fishing Tournament and the Pinewood Derby race in Sebastian.

What is a Tropical Storm Watch?

A tropical storm watch means tropical-storm-force winds are possible somewhere within Sebastian within the next 48 hours. These are winds that could be 20-30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

Winds from a tropical storm can cause damage to property, including porches, awnings, carports, sheds, mobile homes, trees, and pick up unsecured objects from yards.

We could also see heavy rainfall with potential localized flooding. These storms are also favorable for tornadoes, so never underestimate a tropical storm.

Sebastian Daily will keep you updated with information about the potential tropical storm.
