SEBASTIAN – Tropical Storm Florence continues to move into open water in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to pass Florida.
As previously reported by Sebastian Daily, Tropical Storm Florence poses no threat to Sebastian or Vero Beach.
“Some additional slight strengthening is still expected over the next day or so while Florence remains in a light shear environment,” the National Hurricane Center said.
Forecasters say that while Florence is expected to increase slightly, wind shear will make it unfavorable for further development. The National Hurricane Center says there’s no threat to land.
However, the rain chance will increase Sunday through Labor Day because of a tropical wave that’s moving closer to our area.
Forecasters predict rain two to four inches today and through Labor Day.
Thunderstorms “will gradually increase from the late morning through the afternoon hours,” the National Weather Service said, with “the strongest storms will be capable of producing gusts of 45 mph or higher.”
