Tropical Storm Elsa is now moving into Cuba and expected to travel up Florida’s west coast on Tuesday. Elsa will make landfall near Tampa early Wednesday.

Elsa is no threat to Sebastian or Indian River County as it is forecast to travel north along Florida’s west coast starting Tuesday.

“Heavy rain will impact the Cayman Islands and Cuba today, resulting in significant flooding and mudslides over Cuba,” the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in a statement.

Elsa is located about 165 miles from Havana, Cuba. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 mph and is moving northwest at 14 mph.

“On the forecast track, Elsa is expected to move across central and western Cuba later today and pass near the Florida Keys early Tuesday. Elsa is then forecast to move near or over portions of the west coast of Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday,” the NHC said in a statement.

Sebastian is expected to get a lot of rain in the forecast with maximum sustained winds of about 20 mph early Tuesday as Elsa passes through Florida.
