Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday that Tropical Storm Dorian is not expected to be a hurricane as it approaches Florida this weekend.
Sebastian, if the current forecast holds true, can expect rain and 50 to 60 mph winds from Dorian, according to the NHC.
Dorian is expected to reach hurricane strength as it moves into Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. A hurricane warning is in effect. Dorian is then expected to weaken back to a tropical storm.
At 8:00 a.m., Tropical Storm Dorian is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph. Dorian is expected to continue this path through tonight, followed by a turn toward the northwest on Wednesday.
Most spaghetti models are showing landfall near Sebastian. While a tropical storm isn’t as severe as a hurricane, we still urge everyone to be prepared.
We also want to remind everyone that the advisories have changed drastically since last weekend. The forecast could change again this week, so please monitor this storm.
