Two tropical disturbances are currently observed near Florida, moving northeastward. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has indicated that while one system may develop further, neither is expected to pose any threat to our area.
The first disturbance, in the Caribbean Sea, is carrying disorganized showers and thunderstorms. There’s a 50% chance of further development. The NHC advises that areas including Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the southeastern Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands should stay updated on this system’s progress, as it could potentially form into a tropical depression by the weekend while moving across the western and central Caribbean Sea.
Meanwhile, the second system, located just off Florida’s east coast, is anticipated to pass through the northern Bahamas later this week. It will likely bring gusty winds and heavy rain to Sebastian, though it only has a 10% chance of further development.
In line with yesterday’s weather forecast, a Flood Watch and High Surf Advisory have been issued for the week. Boating conditions are challenging due to rough seas and strong winds, reaching up to 35 knots in the Atlantic and Intracoastal Waters. Consequently, a Small Craft Advisory and a Gale Warning are in effect.
