We were expecting a lot of rain in Sebastian from a tropical disturbance brewing south of Cuba, but now that’s all changing. However, we can expect some rain on Sunday.
The movement of the disorganized storm is now turning to the northwest and farther away from Florida. Forecasters expect it to become a tropical depression by Saturday night.
“If current trends continue, advisories will be initiated on a tropical depression this afternoon or evening. Environmental conditions are conducive for further development while the low drifts toward the north and northwest this weekend,” the National Hurricane Center said in a statement.
Movement is rather slow at this time, but forecasters expect the tropical depression to move across the southern Gulf of Mexico or the
northeastern portion of the Yucatan Peninsula on Tuesday.
There is a 100 percent change of formation. The tropical depression poses no threat to Sebastian.
There is currently a high surf advisory until Sunday. Chance of rain increases on Sunday and Monday.
