Hurricane season persists until November 30th, highlighting susceptibility to these storms in Sebastian, Florida. One tropical wave has already been upgraded to a tropical depression.
Presently, there are two tropical disturbances in the Atlantic. One of them is Tropical Depression Seventeen, which is gradually approaching the Caribbean. Although Florida isn’t in its direct trajectory, it’s still early to make definitive predictions.
After evaluating various weather models, the GFS and EURO models suggest a shift northward and northeast in the upcoming days, steering clear of Florida. This pattern aligns with what we’ve observed consistently this season.

The system is producing intense winds and thunderstorm activity about 1,500 miles to the west of the Cabo Verde Islands. It’s moving west at a speed of 15 mph, with its highest sustained winds reaching 35 mph.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said the system, “should continue westward for the next several days, slowing down slightly as the subtropical ridge to its north weakens and moves eastward. After about 3 days, a mid- to upper-level trough over the central Atlantic should begin to turn the cyclone northwestward, and then northward by day 5, as long as Seventeen intensifies as forecasted.”
This system will likely strengthen during the next few days, but nothing significant.
