SEBASTIAN – A cold front will move into our area tomorrow afternoon and evening bringing a line of showers and strong potentially severe thunderstorms.

Sebastian residents may want to take shelter Friday afternoon as the cold front moves through Indian River County.

“Strong winds aloft combined with ample moisture will lead to a chance of strong to locally severe storms late Friday and into Friday night,” the National Weather Service said.

Damaging winds around 60 mph, hail up to a quarter-size, and tornados are all possible late Friday.

While we should prepare ourselves in case of bad weather, the greatest threat of strong storms will be in Brevard County and northward.

The rain chance increases Thursday (today) to 40 percent with an overnight low of 66 degrees.

Friday has a 70 percent chance of rain for the afternoon and night. The low will be around 67 degrees.

Cooler weather is expected for Saturday and Sunday with overnight lows near 52 degrees.
