Sebastian Coast Flood Warning: High Surf, Winds, & Rain This Weekend

Weather in Sebastian, Florida

Weather in Sebastian, Florida

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for the Sebastian area coastlines starting Thursday morning. Residents are advised to stay vigilant against rising waters and take necessary safety and property protection measures.

Travel should be avoided unless necessary, and it’s crucial not to bypass barricades or drive through water when the depth is uncertain.

The beaches will experience high surf, leading to beach erosion and hazardous swimming conditions. Swimmers are urged to stay out of the water due to the presence of large, breaking waves and dangerous surf.

Rip currents, fast-moving water channels flowing away from the shore, are expected, particularly near low areas in sandbars or near structures like jetties and piers at Sebastian Inlet. Please pay attention to lifeguards, beach patrol flags, and warning signs.

Additionally, a wind advisory is in place for Sebastian. Wind gusts might reach 35 mph during the day on Thursday and intensify to 45 mph at night, continuing through the weekend. There’s a substantial 90% likelihood of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Some events at Riverview Park have been canceled due to the adverse weather conditions. Updates to our Sebastian Calendar are now updated to reflect these cancellations. We will continue to update our events section if there are any more cancellations.
