Rain, Gusty Winds in Weather Forecast for Sebastian, Vero Beach

Severe weather tonight in Sebastian, Vero Beach.

SEBASTIAN – A strong squall line will make its way across Florida Sunday afternoon, bringing gusty winds, frequent lightning, and possible hail to areas of Indian River County, according to the National Weather Service.

Sebastian Daily announced Friday of the potential for severe weather to impact Sebastian, Fellsmere, Vero Beach, and other areas in Indian River County.

“Strong to severe thunderstorms will include strong wind gusts in excess of 55-60 mph, large hail (at least quarter-sized), frequent lightning, torrential rainfall, and a potential for tornadoes,” the National Weather Service said Friday.

The storm will begin sometime around 3 p.m. today, bringing new rainfall. Some of the storms tonight will produce gusty winds. Temperatures will drop near 59 degrees tonight.

The worst part of the thunderstorms will be Sunday night and into Monday morning. Rain should clear up by 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.

The National Weather Service reminds everyone to stay indoors unless it is absolutely necessary. Postpone outdoor activities, and monitor the weather.

Hopefully, these storms will blow over quickly tonight with minimal impact to our local area. The squall line does appear to be moving fast.
