Choppy seas for boaters ahead of another cold front by the weekend

Weather in Sebastian, Florida

A change in weather is bringing cooler temperatures and rain for Wednesday in Sebastian, Florida. But things will warm up before another dose of rain this weekend. Unfortunately, the high for Wednesday will only reach 69 degrees.

So many weekend events are going on, including River Days & Craft Brew Hullabaloo in Riverview Park and Baldrick’s Brave the Shave Event at Capt Hirams Sandbar. The two events are for a good cause to help the community.

The next cold front will be moving through Friday afternoon and overnight, potentially bringing showers on Saturday and Sunday. However, it’s too soon to predict the weekend forecast. In the past, we’ve seen rain expected by the National Weather Service (NWS) only to change by Friday.

Here’s a look at the daily temperatures (Highs/Lows):

There will be windy conditions from Friday through Sunday, with gusts as high as 25 mph. But again, that could change by Friday. These winds will be from the south, making it a minimal impact at Riverview Park.

“South to southwest winds will increase over the Atlantic waters Friday afternoon and night ahead of the next strong cold front. Scattered to numerous showers and isolated lightning storms will accompany this front on Saturday, some of which may contain strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Unsettled weather conditions may continue on Sunday into early next week with isolated lightning storms remaining in the forecast,” NWS said in a statement.

There’s also high risk of life-threatening rip currents at the Sebastian Inlet and beaches. Sebastian Daily published a story about a surfer saving a girl from a rip current last Monday. Entering the water during these warnings is not advised.

A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for the waters in Sebastian. During the outgoing tide cycle, a persistent, long-period northeast swell will produce hazardous conditions near inlets. Small craft should exercise caution.
