Sebastian News: Inmate Death, City Council Meeting, COVID-19 Update

It’s 90 degrees and cloudy in Sebastian. Tonight’s low will be 75. Hardly any rain, even though there’s a chance of it.

Detectives are investigating an inmate death at the Indian River County Jail. On Monday, June 8th, at approximately 11:10 AM, Indian River County Sheriff’s Corrections Deputies noticed that inmate Lori Collins, 43, was unresponsive in her bunk. So far, the investigation revealed that the death is likely an overdose.

There will be a free COVID-19 testing site available in Fellsmere on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. I.D. is required. The test will be administered by the Department of Health of Indian River County in partnership with the Indian River Fire Rescue. No appointments are necessary.

Sebastian Councilman Damien Gilliams is expected to talk about the sugar sand during the City Council meeting again. He alleges that the cemetery sand was done in secret and that the former city manager and city council profited from it. The FDLE already investigated this last year and found no wrong doing.
