A 73-year-old woman from Micco was involved in a head-on collision while driving her SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal accident occurred on U.S. Highway 192 in Brevard County at around 8:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway.
The woman was driving west in her 2020 Nissan Rogue when her vehicle entered the eastbound lane and collided with a 2018 Mazda 3, driven by a 24-year-old man from Sebastian.
The driver of the Mazda sustained serious injuries and was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The crash is still under investigation.
