VERO BEACH — One person suffered minor injuries Friday after a vehicle collided with a Brightline commuter train at a railroad crossing in Vero Beach, fire rescue officials said.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Aviation Boulevard and U.S. 1 in Indian River County, according to a spokesperson for Indian River County Fire Rescue.
The driver of a Honda van, who was the only person in the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Details on the cause of the collision were not immediately available, and authorities could not be reached for further comment Friday evening. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew on the Brightline train, which operates high-speed rail service along Florida’s east coast.
By shortly after 5 p.m., emergency personnel had cleared the scene, and normal train operations resumed, officials said.
