Sebastian River High School’s football team is celebrating two standout athletes selected as Players of the Week by their coaches: Cameron Lovretin (#75) and Zayden Figueroa (#5). These young men have shown dedication, leadership, and heart, earning recognition for their contributions to the Sharks’ program.
Cameron Lovretin #75

Senior offensive lineman Cameron Lovretin has been a cornerstone of the SRHS football team for three and a half years. He has a 3.7 GPA and balances academics and athletics with discipline and focus. While he has yet to receive college offers, his sights are set on a future in firefighting or information technology after graduation.
Lovretin credits his coaches for shaping him into the player and person he is today. “They’ve taught me more about leadership and discipline,” Lovretin told Sebastian Daily. “They never gave up on me because they saw more in me than I saw in myself.” His favorite football memory is winning the state championship trophy in 2023.
Off the field, Lovretin enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out at the gym, and occasionally playing video games. He gave heartfelt shoutouts to his girlfriend, Cadee, who is his biggest motivator, and his parents, who remind him of the importance of hard work whenever he feels like giving up. Above all, he credits his faith, saying, “Nothing is possible without God.”
Cam’s journey over the past three years is a testament to hard work and personal growth.
“Cam’s transformation from three years ago to now has been amazing to watch. He has fought his way to become a starter and has become an even better young man. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for that young man,” Coach Franklin told us.
Reflecting on Cam’s dedication and character, Coach Green shared these heartfelt words:
“Cam is one of the hardest workers I’ve coached. He is reliable and consistent. Will always give 100% effort. That’s all a coach can ask for. I wish I were able to coach him longer, but I know whatever he does next, he will succeed.”
Coach Perry stated,” Cameron has worked very hard in the weight room this summer. He has continued to work hard to take his weight-room prowess to the field. We hope Cam takes the next step and becomes a leader among our offensive line. With his strength and physicality, we are hoping he becomes a dominant offensive lineman for us.”
Zayden Figueroa #5

Zayden Figueroa is a four-year veteran of the Sharks’ program and a force on both sides of the ball as a fullback and defensive end. His relentless energy and playmaking ability have earned him scholarship offers from Minnesota North Vermillion and the Florida State Coastal Cobras, with his sights set on playing college football.
“I want to shout out my mom and stepdad for everything they do for me and how much they’ve worked with me and supported me with everything I’ve ever needed for sports and out of sports, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for what they’ve done for me,” he stated.
Figueroa’s path to Sebastian River is a story of sacrifice and belief. Hailing from Pampa, Texas, he played for a small youth team few had heard of. “My mom and stepdad saw my true talents and knew I could go somewhere with it,” Figueroa said. “They saved up for years just to move here to Florida to take my talent and show it somewhere else and help me get more noticed in my football career.” That move has paid dividends, as Figueroa has become a cornerstone of the Sharks’ roster.
The senior, who carries a 2.8 GPA, credits his coaches for unlocking his potential. “The coaches have meant a lot to me on and off the field. They’re like other father figures I never knew I had. They’ve inspired me to continue playing football and taught me more about the game than I ever knew. I never knew what skills or abilities I had until the coaches pushed me to be the best I could be. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for them.” He also gave a nod to his teammates, saying, “They’re always pushing me harder and harder every time and helping each other grow and never letting me put my head down after any mistake in a game I made.”
His favorite football memory came as a freshman, stepping onto the varsity field for the first time at Sebastian River’s home stadium — a moment that cemented his love for the game. Outside of football, he’s a multi-sport athlete who enjoys baseball, fishing, working, and tinkering with vehicles.
Coach Perry highlights Zayden’s proven track record and dynamic skill set, setting the stage for another standout season from the veteran defensive end: “Zayden is a four-year player in our program. He is looking to duplicate the success he had last year.”
“He is a relentless pass rusher with the ability to make plays consistently from the defensive end position. Just the way that he commands attention, the way that he defeats double teams, and then he has a lot of pass rush ability that’s going to be able to help us as well. There will be opportunities for him to make some impactful plays this season,” Perry added.
