SEBASTIAN — Cadet Lt. Davi Moraes of Sebastian River High School’s Navy JROTC program has been named Cadet of the Month for December 2025 by the Indian River Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.
The honor recognizes Moraes’ leadership in coordinating the unit’s annual military parade, along with his overall performance and commitment during November and December, school officials said.
Moraes, serving as lead coordinator, handled logistics for the event at the school’s stadium, working with administrators to secure the venue and ensure access to facilities. He also organized training sessions for officers and cadets, leading to what instructors called a flawless execution of the parade.
Beyond his school duties, Moraes has enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps’ Delayed Entry Program and is set to begin basic training in summer 2026.
Senior Naval Science Instructor Cmdr. Peter Bissonnette, a retired U.S. Navy officer, commended Moraes’ efforts. “He is a great young man, a great cadet, and I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish during his lifetime,” Bissonnette said.
The recognition highlights Moraes as a standout in the JROTC program, known for fostering leadership and service among students.
