The Sebastian River High School Navy JROTC program, in cooperation with the Indian River Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), has recognized Cadet Chief Petty Officer (C/CPO) Kyle Ward as Cadet of the Month for September 2025, celebrating his outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to the unit.
Cadet Ward spent a big chunk of his summer vacation fixing up the uniform distribution setup for more than 140 fellow cadets. He made the whole process smoother by managing updates to the database, and jumping in to help his peers with any uniform problems, turning himself into a go-to guy on the program’s support squad pretty fast.

Ward really stands out thanks to his sharp organizational skills, reliability, and no-nonsense work ethic. He is currently in his third year with JROTC and is stepping up as Assistant Supply Officer. This role has taught him a ton about getting uniforms sized right, keeping the staff in order, and guiding the newer cadets along. Folks know him for sticking with things and pushing hard—he doesn’t quit on a job until it’s done right.
Besides his responsibilities as Assistant Supply Officer, Ward stays busy with the Drill Team, Air Rifle Team, and Orienteering Team. Outside of JROTC, he’s got a job at Publix, keeps up with karate practice, and hangs out with his church’s youth group. Down the road, he aims to head to Indian River State College (IRSC) for a bachelor’s in Business Management and an associate’s in Automotive Technology. In the long run, he’d love to kick off a food trailer venture and roam around the country.
Senior Naval Science Instructor CDR Peter Bissonnette, USN (ret), praised Ward’s contributions, highlighting his reliability and leadership as key qualities that have made a lasting impact on the unit.
