Students from Sebastian Charter Junior High School (SCJH) displayed their talent and dedication at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference, held from June 29 to July 2 in Anaheim, California.
The event, one of the largest student leadership conferences in the country, drew over 15,000 middle and high school students, educators, and volunteers from across the United States.
The conference offered a dynamic platform for students to engage in competitive business-related events, attend educational workshops, and network with representatives from over 260 colleges, universities, and employers.
Nearly 11,000 students from over 2,000 schools competed in more than 100 events, vying for a share of $120,000 in cash prizes.
SCJH sent 33 students to the state-level competition, with three earning the opportunity to represent their school on the national stage after excelling at district and state contests. Among them, Dylan Porazzo stood out, earning the prestigious title of 1st place National Champion in the FBLA Mission and Pledge event.
Porazzo wowed the judges with a powerful three-minute speech about how FBLA positively impacts students’ lives.
Additionally, SCJH’s FBLA chapter was named the 2nd-place National Champion Chapter, an award that recognizes their outstanding work throughout the year. The chapter’s hard work in community service, leadership projects, and successful fundraising efforts led to this special recognition, given by FBLA leaders Trentan Geeraerts and Thomas Hand.
