SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian River High School Lady Sharks have burst out of the gates this season with a 15-3 overall record and a perfect 1-0 mark in district play, putting them in first place in 5A District 13.
The Lady Sharks have quickly established themselves as the clear favorite in the district under head coach Christopher Jefferson, and assistant coaches Larmario Smith and Rae Green.

Team Leaders
Ka’lynn Pound #15 (Guard)
Ka’lynn Pound leads the team in scoring with 245 points so far this year, including scoring 74% at in free throws, and 28 three-pointers. The freshman has made 87 rebounds and 18 blocks so far.
Ekklesia Anderson #2 (Point Guard)
Ekklesia Anderson has a 3.7 GPA and is considering Florida A&M, Texas, and UConn. She has made 26 three-pointers this year and leads the team with 52 steals and 40 assists. Her average is 12.5 points per game and 2.9 assists, according to MaxPreps.
Junior Destiny Pickard #12 (Guard)
Junior Destiny Pickard carries a 3.8 GPA and has had interest from Kentucky, USC, and Tennessee. She has an FG percentage of 50 and loves cooking and singing when she’s away from the court.
Avonti Jennings #11 (Forward)
Avonti Jennings is a Sophomore who has played varsity basketball since eighth grade, and is interested in UConn and USC. She averages 5.4 rebounds per game, 1.8 assists, and has had 33 assists this year, according to MaxPreps. Additionally, she was the Class 1A FACA Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
E’Mani Pryor #24 (Center and Forward)
E’Mani Pryor is a 6’1 power forward and serves as Team Captain for the Lady Sharks. She averages 12 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. With a 4.2 GPA and these balling skills, it’s no surprise that Pryor already has a Division 1 offer from Charleston, SC.
Tamere McCray #13 (Point Guard)
Junior Tamere McCray has been recognized as the Lady Sharks’ most defensive player in back-to-back years, highlighting her impact on the team’s performance. She has a 3.7 GPA and has interest from Florida A&M and Florida State. McCray already has 43 steals so far this year.
It’s been a strong season for these young ladies, highlighted by the team’s ongoing winning streak and convincing wins in several non-district games. Coach Jefferson and his staff have built the program around defense, discipline, and player development. With the entire core returning, Sebastian River appears positioned for another strong run next year.
The team will look to keep its momentum rolling as district competition heats up.
The Lady Sharks will play their local rivals, the Vero Beach “Fighting Indians,” on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 6:00 pm at Sebastian, in a non-district game.
