Amanda Rowlands Orthmann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Sebastian, Florida.
Born on January 19, 1939, in West Winfield, New York, she was the daughter of Barbara and Richard Reed Rowlands. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Rick Rowlands; her sister Rebecca (Rowlands) Mindlin; and her cherished daughter, Susan M. Orthmann.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Victor Orthmann; daughters Barbara Orthmann and Julie O’Leary; siblings Deborah (Rowlands) Lloyd (and her husband Daniel) and Janice (Rowlands) Johnson; brother-in-law Lewis Mindlin; seven grandsons; and ten great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
Amanda devoted 20 years to teaching elementary school, mainly third grade, alongside her dear friend Maryann Balderes. After retiring, she and Vic became pillars of their community as owners of a True Value hardware store.
In later years, they embraced life as travelers, exploring the country in their motorhome and journeying abroad together. Known for her warmth, intelligence, and social spirit, Amanda had a gift for making friends and filling every space with light and laughter.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and joyful curiosity.
