The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is hosting a snook workshop on March 23, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sebastian City Hall.
“The workshop includes a review of several environmental and human factors, including habitat, fishing effort, and stakeholder feedback to evaluate the fishery at a more local scale,” FWC said.
FWC staff proposes establishing ten new management regions with snook regulations based on the fishery status in each region.
The public is encouraged to attend the workshop for more information.
Snook Regulations
FWC manages snook in two regions in Florida: Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Regulations apply in state and adjacent federal waters. No commercial harvest or sale of snook is permitted.
Snook season is closed Dec. 15-Jan. 31 and June 1-Aug. 31. The slot limit is no less than 28″ or more than 32″ total length. The bag limit is 1 per harvester per day, and zero captain and crew for-hire limit.
Anglers must have a snook permit and recreational fishing license. Allowable is hook and line only.
