It’s officially prime time for snook fishing at the Sebastian Inlet, and anglers are reporting plenty of action. As we detailed in this week’s Sebastian Inlet Fishing Report, more baitfish have been spotted near both jetties, making it a great time to cast a line.

Renowned local angler Wayne Landry, also known as “The Snookman,” has been keeping a close eye on the inlet’s conditions. He’s observed schools of mullet of various sizes near the Sebastian Inlet and the surf, and bait shops are starting to stock larger shrimp. Landry recommends focusing on the incoming tide for the best fishing results.

Snook Season Regulations

Snook season officially opened on September 1st and will run until December 15th. Anglers are allowed to keep one snook per person per day, with a minimum size of 28 inches and a maximum size of 32 inches.

North Jetty

The incoming tide has been particularly productive for snook fishing at the North Jetty. Anglers are using live shrimp to entice strikes, but be prepared for some competition from larger fish like goliath grouper. Exercise caution when fishing near the rocks, as some anglers have reported broken lines.

In addition to snook, redfish and Spanish mackerel are being caught on the beach side of the jetty. Mangrove snapper action has also picked up, with a mix of smaller fish and some larger specimens.

South Jetty

The South Jetty has also been producing good results, especially during the incoming tide. Snook, redfish, jacks, and mangrove snapper are all being targeted. Live shrimp and croakers are effective baits for snook and redfish, while live or dead greenies are producing consistent results for snappers.

The outgoing tide at the South Jetty has also provided opportunities for catching blue runners, jacks, and mangrove snappers, but many of these fish may be too small to keep.

Beach and Surf

While there haven’t been many anglers reported on the beach, schools of mullet have been spotted on the north side of the inlet. Consider using a cast net to catch your own bait.

Fishing Forecast

Expect warm temperatures in the mid-80s to low 90s throughout the weekend, with overnight lows in the mid-70s. There’s a chance of rain each day, so be prepared for potential thunderstorms. Winds will be light, and seas will be relatively calm.

Important Tips for Anglers

Remember to stay hydrated, wear protective clothing, and check tide times before heading out. High tides at Sebastian Inlet will occur between 8 AM and 10 AM and again from 8 PM to 10 PM. Low tides will occur around 2 AM to 5 AM and again from 3 PM to 5 PM.

With the arrival of snook season and favorable fishing conditions, now is the perfect time to head to the Sebastian Inlet and enjoy some fantastic fishing! Click here to join our Fishing Group on Facebook!
