Sebastian Inlet’s Rough Waters; 12-Year-Old Lands Big Snook

Gionni Corsetti

Sebastian Inlet has been experiencing rough conditions caused by tropical conditions. Anglers have faced choppy waters and reduced visibility. Yet, they’ve reeled in jack crevalle, mangrove snappers, redfish (on a catch-and-release basis), and some snook, particularly around the North and South jetties.

Got a catch to share? We’re eager to spotlight it! Share details about your catch, including your name, hometown, type of fish, bait used, location, and pictures at info@sebastiandaily.com.

Just last week, the waters were tumultuous near the inlet due to Hurricane Lee’s path up the Atlantic. Waves reached a staggering eight feet, as the National Weather Service reported. The water clarity wasn’t great either. Currently, we’re watching Hurricane Nigel brewing offshore, with predictions indicating waves might reach up to seven feet by midweek.

I’ll return to the inlet this week to assess the situation. Stay updated by following me on Facebook.

Gionni Corsetti’s Impressive Catch

Over the past weekend, Gionni Corsetti, aged 12 (pictured above), had a fishing experience he’ll remember for years. His mother told us that he caught a significant snook at the beach.

“A 12-pound snook coming in at 30 inches long at Round Island Beach,” Jessica Corsetti told Sebastian Daily.

She mentioned how pleased and proud Gionni was and that he was eager to spread the good news. Way to go, Gionni!

Fishing Weather

The latest weather update from Sebastian Daily suggests rain throughout the week. Expect temperatures to hover in the mid-80s, dipping to around 72. Rain chances stand between 60-70% daily. We’re still working on the weekend forecast; expect more details later in the week.

Due to the continuing tropical activity, expect turbulent ocean conditions. Luckily, there are no storm threats for Florida.

For those navigating boats, initial projections suggest calm seas around 2 to 3 feet and mild conditions in the Intracoastal waterways. Yet, waves could heighten to between 3 and 6 feet by Thursday.  Our next Sebastian Inlet Fishing Report will be out next Monday.
